Moments with Michael

I love being a grandmother to my seven grandsons.  I told someone I felt like Snow White and her seven dwarves except that the forest creatures don’t help with the housework!

When I spend time with my little men, each moment with them is special.  One of ours has problems with auditory processing and struggles with expressing himself.  But our precious Michael has come a long long way.  The last time we spent the weekend, his Papa treated the crew to breakfast at the Waffle House (their choice).  Amid chocolate chip waffles and chocolate milk Michael indicated he wanted to tell me a secret.  I bent over so that he could whisper, “You are the best Mimi in the whole wide world!”

Moments like these are short lived.  The next time I visit, Michael may hug me or possibly walk past me without a word.  No matter.  For the first time I truly understand what the scriptures say about Mary -  that she treasured up events in her heart.”  Photographs, videos, and recordings are wonderful but I find that the heart is the best keeper of memories.
